La Libertad, El Salvador Trip
La Libertad, El Salvador Mission Trip – February 29 – March 7, 2020
New Life Church partners with Great Commission Latin America (GCLA) to bring mission teams to La Libertad, El Salvador.
The La Libertad Great Commission Church is a community church of about 150 people who are reaching out to their local community, much of whom live in poverty and struggle to provide for themselves and children. Pastor, Ivo Claros, who has himself struggled with the health and education of his children, wants to challenge you to come to La Libertad and work shoulder-to-shoulder with his church to change the conditions there with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and by meeting physical needs. Our partnership with El Salvador is critical to our church’s vision as justice is our charge and we aim to be a vibrant, reproducing church living out the greatest commandment and great commission.
Our church partner in La Libertad, El Salvador aims to serve their local community through the holistic children’s nutrition center and carpentry and sewing programs. We take time each year in bringing a team of servant hearted individuals to come alongside this church as they work in this small fishing village to bring the Kingdom of God.
Sigourney Seybert, a former UofM grad, along with her husband Samuel, serve in the church’s nutrition center working with the children of all ages teaching them English and how to follow Jesus.
La Libertad is a small fishing village on the west coast of El Salvador, along the Pacific Ocean. For those who have been there in past years know how amazingly beautiful it is. The church is filled with wonderful, loving people who are friendly and also love to serve God. Their church service is much like New Life, just in Spanish!
As missionaries from New Life, our purpose is to take one week to support the local church as best we can in their continuing efforts for the Kingdom. Throughout our week some of the opportunities we may be given are to: teach English classes in the local schools, share the gospel in the community, serve in the children’s nutrition center, ongoing reconstruction work for the church and community – construction projects, provide and deliver food to the poor and much more! We hope to take a day to experience the rich El Salvadoran culture. Not only do you get to be on mission for God’s kingdom with awesome people, but you get to do it in a tropical location!
Estimated Trip Cost: Approximately $1600 (cost is still tentative depending on final airline ticket prices & # of people – includes Airfare, Hotel, transportation in El Salvador, food and emergency medical and evacuation insurance during the trip)
Worried about cost? We will help you train you in support raising!
Never shared the Gospel before? That’s totally fine! We will pair you with an experienced person and help you learn!
Don’t know Spanish? That’s ok, we’ll have local translators with us the whole time!
Will we have any mission training before we go? Yes, as a part of the team, we have three mandatory training sessions prior to our trip during January and February that will help equip you with understanding the culture, travel, evangelism and team building.
Does New Life Church run this trip or GCLA? We work in partnership to have our local leaders from New Life prepare and bring the team and join with our church partner, La Libertad, who is a part of the larger group of churches throughout Latin America called GCLA.
